The National Government of Colombia begins distributing economic aid to families affected by the August 10 earthquake in Choc贸.
The National Government of Colombia began distributing temporary economic support to families whose homes were destroyed or declared uninhabitable following the earthquake on August 10, 2026. The Unit for Risk Management of Disasters (UNGRD) is managing the first disbursement, which exceeds COP 3,324 million for the Choc贸 department. Beneficiaries in Choc贸 must meet three requirements to receive the aid: their home must be registered in the Unique Damages Register (RUD), they must have a local mayor's certification of residency during the quake, and their home must be listed as destroyed or uninhabitable. Payments are being distributed across 14 municipalities in Choc贸. The monthly amount varies by municipal category, with categories 1 and 2 receiving COP 1,050,543, categories 3 and 4 receiving COP 875,452.50, and categories 5 and 6 receiving COP 787,907.25. In Cali, 9,688 people will receive the first installment of economic assistance. Beneficiaries can claim their resources at 109 authorized SuperGIROS and Gane points, or via bank accounts. Recipients must present their original identification documents to claim the payment.
