Southern California is bracing for a stretch of intense heat as temperatures are expected to climb throughout the week. Meteorologist Shannah Mendiola reported that a heat advisory is in effect through Monday for parts of Orange County, the Inland Empire, and the mountain regions of San Bernardino and Riverside counties. While downtown Los Angeles will see highs in the lower 90s, inland communities and the desert regions are expected to experience triple-digit temperatures. Shannah Mendiola noted that a ridge of high pressure will maintain sunny and hot conditions, particularly in the low desert where an extreme heat warning is in effect. Health officials are advising residents to stay hydrated and seek air-conditioned environments to mitigate the risk of heat-related illnesses. Coastal areas will offer some relief with temperatures in the 80s, while inland communities like Anaheim and Irvine will reach the 90s. The National Weather Service has issued an updated heat advisory for the Orange County Coast, valid through Friday.
