Everton Blair wins special election to serve the remainder of the late Representative David Scott's term in Georgia's 13th District

Everton Blair won the special election runoff to represent Georgia’s 13th Congressional District for the remainder of the late Representative David Scott’s term. Blair, a former Gwinnett County school board chairman, defeated Marcye Scott, the daughter of the late congressman, in a Tuesday runoff. While Marcye Scott led the first round of voting with 46% of the vote, Blair secured 53% of the victory in the final tally. Blair’s win provides temporary representation for the district until the general election in November. He will be replaced by Jasmine Clark, who won the primary for the full term starting in January 2027. Blair’s platform included progressive policies such as universal childcare and clean energy investments. The late Representative David Scott served the district for over two decades before his death in April. His victory adds a Democratic vote to the House, bringing the Republican House majority to 218-214.
