President Abelardo De La Espriella delivered four furnished apartments to families impacted by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. The homes, donated by the construction company Marval, were presented to four specific beneficiaries: Diana Troncoso, who survived the collapse of the Torres del Limonar building, Ana María Saavedra, who lost her parents and two sisters, and Cristian López Arango and Maryori Basto Flñlórez, who lost their homes in the tragedy. During the visit, President Abelardo De La Espriella emphasized that the reconstruction process will be guided by structural engineers to ensure safety and habitability, avoiding improvisation. The administration announced a budgetary item of $110,000 million to improve 1,462 homes and 741 rural homes. Minister of Housing, City and Territory Jaime Andrés Beltrán also noted that 120 tons of materials and yellow machinery have arrived to support the reconstruction in the Valle del Cauca department. The government aims to accelerate water and sanitation projects in several municipalities, including Cali and Buenaventura.
