President Abelardo de la Espriella has officially ended several peace dialogue processes with illegal armed groups that were originally launched under the 'Paz Total' policy of former President Gustavo Petro. The administration announced the formal dismantling of two dialogue tables with FARC dissidents and a socio-legal conversation space with the Autodefensas Conquistadores de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN). Olguín Mayorga, president of the National Association of Victims, expressed support for the decision, noting that the 'Paz Total' policy allegedly intensified warfare in regions like Catatumbo. Mayorga highlighted that over 140,000 people have been displaced from their lands in Catatumbo over the last 19 months, facing increased kidnappings, forced disappearances, and drone-launched explosives. He stated that the illegal armed groups, specifically the ELN and FARC dissidents, showed a lack of will for peace in the region. Victims now look to President Abelardo de la Espriella to provide security guarantees and improve social and economic conditions in the region.
