President Abelardo de la Espriella dismisses Wilmar de Jesúz Mejía as director of the Financial Information and Analysis Unit

The administration announced the dismissal of Wilmar de Jesúz Mejía from his role as director of the Financial Information and Analysis Unit (UIAF). President Abelardo de la Espriella formalized the departure through a Ministry of Finance decree, declaring his appointment insubsistent. The decision follows a resignation letter submitted by Mejía, who had served in the position since April 2023 under the previous administration. Mejía is currently under investigation for alleged ties with the dissident factions of the Farc, specifically those led by alias Calarcú. Reports suggest he may have exchanged confidential information with the dissidents, who allegedly used his influence to propose a security company with official permits. While Mejía has rejected these links, the Procuraduría General de la Nación has opened a disciplinary investigation into his conduct. In a separate action, the UIAF under Mejía's leadership requested a formal investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office into the mismanagement of health resources at Coosalud. The complaint highlights potential conflicts of interest and irregular financial operations involving several executives and board members.
