Abelardo de la Espriella leads security and reconstruction efforts during first 30 days of presidency

The administration announced that the public force carried out 14,914 arrests and neutralized 23 criminal leaders during the first 30 days of the government of Abelardo de la Espriella. These operations resulted in the seizure of 49.3 tons of narcotics and the eradication of 1,320 hectares of illicit crops. The Ministry of Defense reported that these actions were part of a security strategy to pressure criminal structures and prevent them from finding safe zones within the national territory. Simultaneously, Abelardo de la Espriella responded to a 7.4-magnitude earthquake that occurred shortly after his inauguration. The administration announced an economic state of emergency and established a plan for economic reactivation involving 40 billion COP for micro-enterprises and tourist attractions. In terms of security, the administration announced that several criminal leaders, including alias Bendito Menor, were allegedly killed by Israeli forces. The administration also authorized 52 extradition requests to the United States for narcotráfico. Furthermore, the administration announced that the path of dialogue for peace with armed groups is now exhausted, shifting the focus toward submission to justice.
