Erik Gordon Shunn was arrested after allegedly firing 20 rounds at tree workers during a standoff in Oregon City.
Erik Gordon Shunn was taken into custody by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office after allegedly firing approximately 20 rounds at tree workers on South Rocky Bluff Lane in unincorporated Oregon City. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon around 2:24 p.m. when a neighbor reported that Shunn, aged 53, was shooting at the workers cutting down trees. Deputies and a SWAT team responded to the scene, surrounding Shunn's home and issuing shelter-in-place alerts for nearby residents. Using a drone, authorities spotted Shunn using a tractor to knock down trees to create a barricade while allegedly firing several shots at the drones. The standoff concluded just before 3:45 p.m. when Shunn was apprehended. No injuries were reported during the incident, including for Shunn's mother, who was inside the home. Shunn was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and will be booked into the Clackamas County Jail. He faces charges including attempted second-degree murder, attempted first-degree assault, recklessly endangering another person, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing.
