Mexican authorities arrested Ana Florella Fragoso Ramos and four others in a major operation against migrant trafficking.

Mexican authorities arrested Ana Florella Fragoso Ramos, the leader of a criminal cell, and four other suspects in the state of Jalisco. The operation, conducted by the Secretariat of the Navy, the General Prosecutor's Office, and the Secretariat of Security and Civil Protection, targeted a faction of 'La Nueva Empresa' involved in drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, and migrant trafficking from Ciudad Juárez to the United States. During three searches in the municipalities of Tonalá and Zapopan, officials seized two trucks, cash, 31 mobile phones, computer equipment, and payment terminals. The organization primarily used tunnels in Ciudad Juárez to move migrants irregularly into the United States. These actions were taken as Mexico reinforces its border operations in response to the stricter migration policies implemented by the administration since the return of Donald Trump to the White House in January 2025.
