Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo states that the Fobaproa debt will never be fully paid off by the Mexican people

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stated that the Fobaproa debt is unpayable and will never be fully settled by the Mexican people. During her visit to Colima, she explained that the debt, which originated during the governments of Carlos Salinas de Gortari and Ernesto Zedillo, was designed in a way that only a portion of the interest is paid while the capital remains. The administration announced that 50 million pesos are allocated from the public budget every two years to cover these commitments. Sheinbaum Pardo criticized the previous governments for using public resources to rescue banks and large corporations, describing the move as an example of past corruption. She contrasted this debt with the social programs implemented by her administration, which she described as politics turned into love. She also noted that her government took actions to prevent bank contributions to the Institute for Protection of Savings at Banks from being deducted from taxes. In addition to the debt discussion, Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted infrastructure projects in Colima, including the reconstruction of bridges and the expansion of health and education facilities.
