Donald Trump Approval Rating Hits Record Low as Economic Concerns Mount Ahead of Midterm Elections
The administration announced a new poll showing that Donald Trump's approval rating has reached a record low of 33 percent among registered voters. This figure represents a three-point drop from the previous month and is the lowest level recorded since the survey began in May. Economic concerns are a primary driver of the decline. Nearly two-thirds of registered voters believe the economy is heading in the wrong direction, and 57 percent of voters reported being financially worse off under the administration. Additionally, 56 percent of voters opposed the administration's decision to impose a 50 percent tariff on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods. While the administration's economic record is becoming a major liability, President Trump remains optimistic about the party's midterm performance. He stated that the party would do very well despite the historical trend of the party in power losing seats. Fuel prices have also reached record highs, with diesel reaching a national average of $5.85 a gallon. President Trump described the ongoing conflict with Iran as a minor military operation rather than a full-scale war, noting that new pipelines and shipping routes would eventually replace the importance of the Hormuz Strait.
