Kevin Plamondon Escapes Flash Flooding in Colorado After Vehicle Becomes Stranded in Deep Water
Kevin Plamondon was forced to escape his vehicle during a flash flood in Meridian Village, Colorado, on Saturday afternoon. Heavy rains and hail caused significant water accumulation at the intersection of Meridian Boulevard and Maroon Circle, where Plamondon was driving home from work. The intersection was submerged under three feet of water, which concealed two to three feet of hail underneath the surface. Plamondon reported that his car began to float and eventually required him to act quickly to exit through the window and reach the side of the road. South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to seven different water rescues in the area between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p00 p.m. Emergency crews warned the public to avoid all areas of standing water and urged drivers to 'turn around, don't drown' to avoid life-threatening conditions. Additional flooding and severe weather alerts were issued for the Front Range and Eastern Plains, with more rain and hail expected to continue into the evening.
