Addison Mehr leads the creation of a drone light installation to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Addison Mehr, the creative director of the drone show titled "2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor," led the development of a public art installation to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The display featured 2,977 individual lights, with each light representing one of the 2,977 people killed during the attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. As part of the 25th anniversary commemoration, the drones first gathered in a swirling helix before assembling into a full-scale architectural representation of the Twin Towers. The project was a collaboration involving 9/11 families, survivors, and first responders, including members of the New York City Fire Department. The installation was accompanied by a musical score featuring works by Philip Glass, Max Richter, and John Adams. The display was sponsored by the New York Foundation of the Arts and was designed to acknowledge individual loss within the collective history of the day. It served as a new way to remember the victims and provide insight into the events for a new generation of Americans who did not experience the attacks personally.
