The Trimbos Institute issues a red alert warning for potentially lethal ecstasy pills shaped like the head of President Donald Trump.

The Trimbos Institute, a Dutch drug addiction and mental health organization, issued a national "Red Alert" warning regarding ecstasy pills shaped like the head of President Donald Trump. The pills were discovered at drug-testing centers in August and were found to contain high concentrations of PMMA, a chemical similar to MDMA. Because PMMA takes longer to produce noticeable effects than MDMA, users may mistakenly believe the drug is not working and take additional doses, increasing the risk of overdose. Symptoms of the drug can include nausea, rapid heartbeat, seizures, and dangerously high body temperatures, which can be fatal. Trimbos Institute spokesperson Anniek Groothuis stated that there have been no reported cases of serious illness or death connected to these specific pills yet. While ecstasy is illegal in the Netherlands, it remains a popular party drug. This is not the first time President Donald Trump has appeared in tablet form; in 2017, German police seized thousands of orange ecstasy pills shaped like his head.
