James Dyson launches high-tech CameraJet toothbrush featuring a macro lens and precision water jets
James Dyson revealed a new electric toothbrush, the Dyson CameraJet, during an launch event in Paris. The device features a 100k pixel macro lens camera and an anti-gravity mouthwash tank that allows users to see their teeth in real-time while brushing. Developed over six years by 661 engineers, the toothbrush uses Gap Optical Targeting technology to analyze 28 live images per second. This system identifies gaps between teeth and triggers a precision jet burst of mouthrinse to remove plaque. The brush claims to remove up to 72% more plaque than market-leading electric toothbrushes. James Dyson stated that research showed people consistently miss the areas where plaque forms, specifically the gaps between teeth. To address this, the toothbrush combines machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, and Wi-Fi connectivity to provide a live stream of cleaning footage via the MyDyson app. The product will retail for $499 and comes in Ceramic Pink and Ceramic Ultra Blue. It is part of a complete dental system that includes non-foaming toothpaste and mouth rinse, each costing £8.50.
