A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck southern Spain on Tuesday morning, causing minor injuries and structural damage to buildings in the Granada province. At least three people were lightly injured, including one minor who was taken to the hospital, according to Andalusia's regional top emergency official Antonio Sanz. The tremor, which occurred at a depth of under 10km, caused debris to fall from buildings, resulting in cracks in residential walls and dislodged facades. Local authorities closed several museums, administrative buildings, and sports facilities as a precaution. The famous Alhambra palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, restricted tourist access to parts of the complex. To ensure safety, Granada's metro system reduced train speeds to 30 km/h. The earthquake was the latest in a series of shallow tremors in the area that began last Friday. Residents and tourists were alerted to residents rushing out of their homes and hotels being evacuated as a precaution.
