Einride to Deploy 500 Tesla Semis for Amazon and Other Key Customers
Einride AB will deploy 500 Tesla Semi trucks, marking the largest public commitment to the electric truck to date. The Swedish freight company will use the trucks to serve customers like Amazon across five states: California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next month, with the remaining units arriving in phases over the next 24 months. This deployment triples Einride's current electric fleet and is fully financed through third-party solutions. The move aims to convert approximately $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue into active freight capacity. Roozbeh Charli, CEO of Einride, stated that the deployment proves the company's ability to execute at scale. Dan Priestley, Director of Semi at Tesla, noted that electric heavy trucks offer lower costs per mile compared to diesel trucks due to fuel savings and reduced maintenance. While Einride stock saw a 7% decline on Tuesday, the deployment remains a significant anchor for the company's expansion into North American freight corridors.
