Graciela Domínguez Nava is appointed as the new interim governor of Sinaloa to address the state's violence crisis.

The local Congress designated Graciela Domínguez Nava as the interim governor of Sinaloa to serve the remaining 14 months of the term of Rubén Rocha Moya. The appointment follows the repudiation of Rocha Moya's return to power by his party, Morena, and President Claudia Sheinbaum. Domínguez Nava, who previously served as Secretary of Public Education and Culture, was selected to restore governability and provide a stable leadership during a period of intense internal party disputes. In her inaugural speech, Graciela Domínguez Nava emphasized that the state's priority is to achieve a tangible peace rather than just rhetoric, specifically addressing the severe violence caused by the internal split of the Cartel de Sinaloa. She noted that Sinaloa requires the full force of the Mexican state, including coordination and intelligence, to recover tranquility. Her appointment comes at a time when the state faces thousands of homicides and disappearances, requiring a leadership capable of clean up the legacy of the previous administration.
