Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo confirms the new name Somos for the political party formerly known as Somos Mexico.
Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo, the national president of the political party Somos Mexico, announced the party's new name as Somos. This change follows a formal order from the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF) which ratified the agreement of the National Electoral Institute (INE). The tribunal ruled that the name Somos Mexico could cause confusion regarding national identity, as it is difficult for a single party to claim the entire name of a country. Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo stated that while the party complied with the agreement, she expressed dissatisfaction with the decision. She accused the federal government of being authoritarian and lacking respect for pluralism. Despite the change, the party intends to keep its rose-colored letters and white background to maintain its identity. The party leadership presented the modifications to the INE to ensure the-name, logo, and colors are officially approved before the electoral period begins.
