President Abelardo De La Espriella Commits to Expanding Bogotá's Metro Network During Site Visit

President Abelardo De La Espriella visited the Bogotá Metro works to inspect the progress of Line 1. Accompanied by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán and mobility officials, the president toured the infrastructure, noting that Line 1 has reached over 81% completion. The viaduct is expected to be finished by January of next year, with final testing of the 24-kilometer line beginning in September. During the tour, Abelardo De La Espriella stated that the capital requires a solid and sufficient metro network rather than just a single line. He committed to the national government's support for completing Line 1, advancing Line 2 and Line 3, and beginning the structuring of Line 4. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán reported that the work is progressing favorably. The president highlighted that the project should transcend government differences, emphasizing that the metro should belong to all residents of the city. He also noted that 17 trains are already in the city as the first line nears completion.
