SINDESENA workers and apprentices secure the unblocking of $719 million in the National Service of Learning budget.

SINDESENA successfully secured the unblocking of $719.913 million from the National Service of Learning (SENSE) budget for 2026. This amount, representing nearly 11% of the total budget, was initially blocked by the government to address earthquake emergency needs. The unblocking was achieved through a series of nationwide demonstrations, marches, and a dialogue table with the Ministry of Labor. During the negotiations, Minister Natalia Eugenia Lopez established a table with representatives from SINDESENA and COES to address the concerns of workers and apprentices. The administration announced that the entire amount of resources would be released, following a petition from Senator Wilson Arias and various public denunciations. The unblocking affects several key areas, including the Fondo Emprender project, which saw 86.2% of its resources released, and the Formacion Profesional Integral project. SINDESENA noted that while the decision was announced, they are awaiting the official publication and implementation of the resources. The organization urged the educational community to remain alert for the 2027 budget definitions.
