Alex Gibney releases four-hour documentary exploring the personal life and political influence of Elon Musk
Filmmaker Alex Gibney has released a four-hour documentary titled "Musk," which provides an extensive profile of the billionaire tech mogul. The film explores Musk's various ventures, including Tesla, SpaceX, and X, while examining his personal life and his significant role in the 2024 election cycle. During the production, Musk reportedly expressed some concern regarding the film's portrayal of him. The documentary features a quote from an unnamed close associate describing Musk as "the most miserable man I’ve ever met." Musk responded to this characterization by stating he is happy about half the time, in the middle about 40% of the time, and sad about 10% of the time. His mother, Maye Musk, and SpaceX COO Gwynne Shotwell also defended him against the "miserable" label. The film highlights Musk's political involvement, specifically his $290 million in spending to support the Republican party and President Trump. It also examines his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which the administration announced would reduce federal bureaucracy. The documentary suggests Musk may have used his position to collect data on tens of millions of Americans for future political use.
