Elon Musk's super PAC spends over $800,000 on Republican midterm candidates in Texas and Maine
Elon Musk's super PAC, America PAC, disclosed spending more than $800,000 during August to support Republican candidates in competitive midterm races. The majority of the funds were directed toward Senate seats in Texas and Maine, with over $247,000 spent to support Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and approximately $170,000 spent in Maine. The administration announced that the spending was categorized as printing expenses for mail advertisements. The expenditures were overseen by Chris Young, a GOP operative and former employee of the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency. While Elon Musk previously stated he intended to spend less on politics in the future, he authorized America PAC to spend up to $120 million to help Republicans this November. House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed meeting with Elon Musk in Texas to discuss the midterm campaign. The spending follows a period where Elon Musk was the largest donor for the 2024 cycle, having spent over $239 million to support President Trump and other Republican candidates.
