Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch confirms detention of 20 members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel during federal raids
Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch confirmed that federal authorities detained 20 people linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during simultaneous operations across 36 buildings in Hidalgo, Jalisco, and MichoacƔn. The raids resulted in the seizure of firearms, narcotics, 113 vehicles, communication equipment, drones, and exotic fauna. These actions represent a continued effort by the administration to weaken the operational, logistical, and financial capabilities of the CJNG, which the administration of Donald Trump identified as a primary exporter of fentanyl to the United States. The operation follows the death of the cartel's leader, Nemesio Oseguera, also known as El Mencho. U.S. Ambassador Ronald Johnson praised the Mexican authorities for the operation, noting that disarming the cartel's capabilities strengthens the security of both nations. Meanwhile, local officials in Hidalgo acknowledged the federal intelligence spotlight on the region, noting that the presence of the cartel in the state remains a significant factor in the ongoing fight against organized crime.
