Rioters Block TransMilenio Traffic in Bogotá, Affecting Over 77,000 Users
A group of rioters has caused significant traffic congestion in southwest Bogotá, blocking the Troncal Américas route at the intersection of Avenida Ciudad de Cali and Calle 40 B South. The disruption has forced the temporary suspension of operations at several stations, including Tibanica-Primavera, Laureles, Islandia, Portal de las Américas, and Biblioteca Tintal. According to the Secretariat District of Mobility, the blockade has affected more than 77,282 users. While the Social Dialogue Team attempted to mediate with the rioters, the group initially resisted requests to open the road. However, some progress was made as the Social Dialogue Team successfully restored vehicle passage in both directions on Calle 40B Sur for approximately 15 minutes. Traffic managers and TransMilenio personnel are currently working to agilize passage at the Portal Américas exit, where high congestion remains due to the intersection with Avenida Villavicencio. To manage the flow, specific plate restrictions for private vehicles and taxis are in effect until 9:00 p.m.
