Authorities in Bogotá discover 47 minors inside a bar operating under the guise of a union
Authorities in the Teusaquillo neighborhood of Bogotá discovered 47 minors, aged between 9 and 17, inside a bar that was operating under the facade of a union. The operation was conducted by the Police of Youth and Adolescence, the Teusaquillo Local Municipality, and the Colombian Institute of Family Well-being (ICBF). The minors were found consuming alcoholic beverages such as beer, aguardiente, rum, and whisky. During the operation, officials seized weapons, including machetes, and various narcotics. One minor was found in a state of high intoxication and was taken to a medical center. Most of the minors were handed over to their parents, who arrived to collect them after the children had allegedly told lies to leave their homes. The remaining minors were transferred to ICBF zonal centers for the restoration of their rights. The establishment had previously received four suspensions for anti-social behavior. Officials noted that the owners had changed the business name several times to evade authority control. The facility was re-sealed and received a corrective measure of a ten-day suspension for allowing minors to consume intoxicating beverages.
