Enrique Inzunza Cázarnez to return to the Senate on August 30 following a four-month absence

Senator Enrique Inzunza Cázarnez announced his return to the Senate on August 30 to participate in the Morena parliamentary group's plenary session. This move marks the end of a 113-day absence from the Senate, during which he was under investigation by the United States government for alleged ties to organized crime and narcotics trafficking. Despite his physical absence, Enrique Inzunza Cázarnez maintained that he continued to work on legislative duties, including presiding over the Commission of Legislative Studies and presenting numerous dictamens, such as the judicial reform. He clarified that his return is independent of the return of Rubén Rocha Moya to the governorship of Sinaloa. While some colleagues, such as Claudia Anaya, requested his retirement from the commission he chairs due to his alleged collusion with the Sinaloa Cartel, Enrique Inzunza Cázarnez received support from the majority of his party. The Senate Chamber noted that there is no legal obstacle preventing him from receiving his full salary during his absence, as his bank accounts remain blocked by the Financial Intelligence Unit.
