Fray Ricardo Torres Castro assumes leadership of SENA and aims to modernize the institution for all Colombians
Fray Ricardo Torres Castro has been appointed as the new director general of the National Service of Learning (SENA). The Dominican priest and friar stated that SENA is not merely a university for the poor, but rather a public entity that promotes development, talent, and competitiveness for all Colombians. During his initial weeks in the role, Fray Ricardo Torres Castro focused on reviewing the current state of the institution and defining a new roadmap for transformation. He emphasized the need for a market-relevant training offer and a process of digital transformation and innovation to improve institutional efficiency. In a visit to Tunja, Fray Ricardo Torres Castro reviewed infrastructure projects, including the Curubal Lot and the old Transport Terminal. He noted that the old Transport Terminal project is estimated to have an advance of approximately 42% despite a contract end date of December 31. He also plans to address the administrative stability of regional offices by establishing a permanent staff of professionals and directors.
