Naín Andrés Pérez Toncel, known as Bendito Menor, was killed during a police operation in Riohacha, the capital of La Guajira. He was a primary leader of the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada, an illegal armed group in northern Colombia. The operation, conducted by the Public Force, resulted in the deaths of his sentimental partner, Rosa Angélica Tarazona, and two of his security team members, identified as El Tío and Casiloco. The administration of President Abelardo de la Espriella confirmed the death of Naín Andrés Pérez Toncel through the Ministry of Defense. The operation was part of Operation Centinela de la Patria. Congress members expressed support for the operation. Senate President Honorio Henríquez stated that no illegal group can be above the authority of the State. Senator Sara Castellanos noted that making peace involves protecting the Colombian people. Representative Jorge Figueroa Angarita described the operation as a significant step toward recovering security and economic development in the region.
