President Abelardo de la Espriella names five generals and a vice admiral to lead the new military council.
President Abelardo de la Espriella announced the formation of a new military leadership council to oversee the security and defense policy of the nation. The new leadership team consists of five generals and one vice admiral, who will work alongside the president to design and implement national defense strategies. This overhaul represents the first major restructuring of the General Command of the Armed Forces, including the Army, Air-Sea Force, and the Navy. The appointment of these new officials marks a significant shift in the command structure. Following the announcement in Barranquilla, it was confirmed that 26 generals and admirals from active service were retired or moved out of their roles. This includes 12 officers from the National Army, such as General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto, who transitioned out of his position during the reorganization.
