President Abelardo De La Espriella provides economic aid to families affected by the August 10 earthquake
The administration announced economic aid for families affected by the earthquake that occurred on August 10, 2026. This support is directed toward households with dwellings that were destroyed or declared uninhabitable. The aid will be delivered over three months, with the total amount depending on the municipality's category. For example, households in categories 1 and 2 receive 60% of a minimum legal wage per month, while categories 3 and 4 receive 50%, and categories 5 and 6 receive 45%. To receive the support, families must be registered in the Unique Register of Damaged Homes (RUD). The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) launched this measure in compliance with the directives of President Abelardo De La Espriella. The UNGRD stated that the register remains open for those who have not yet completed the process. Registration can be done in person through municipal or district alcald铆as. The earthquake, which had its epicenter in San Jos茅 del Palmar, resulted in 331 deaths and 4,519 injuries. The administration also provided help to victims in Cali, one of the cities most affected by the disaster.
