University of Autonomous State of Morelos security personnel located 30 students after a Transportes Estrella Roja bus took an unplanned route.

The University of Autonomous State of Morelos (UAEM) confirmed that 30 students were safely returned home after a Transportes Estrella Roja bus took an unplanned route. The students were traveling from the Campus Chamilpa to Cuautla when the driver of unit 3088 took a different path, eventually arriving in Mexico City instead of the eastern region of the state. Families and security personnel mobilized to locate the students after they reported being stranded in Mexico City. The UAEM activated its security protocols and deployed its Venados security team to locate the unit. Once found in Tepoztlán, the Venados team established contact with the student group and escorted them the rest of of the way to Cuautla. The UAEM administration demanded an exhaustive investigation into the incident. The transportation company was criticized for failing to inform the students before boarding that the route would change. The university stated that its priority was to protect the students and ensured they arrived home safely with their families.
