Firefighters Contain Hidden Meadows Fire in Clark County with Minimal Damage to Homes

Firefighters in Clark County, Washington, successfully contained the Hidden Meadows Fire on Monday, preventing significant damage to nearby residential areas. The brush fire, which ignited on Monday morning west of Yacolt, grew to approximately 12 acres. Initial reports indicated a large column of smoke and falling ash, prompting Level 3 (Go Now) and Level 2 (Get Set) evacuation orders. However, due to an aggressive response from approximately 100 firefighters and various aircraft, the fire was pinned down. Tom Aston, the initial incident commander, noted that the combination of ground resources and air support was critical in stopping the flames before they reached hundreds of threatened homes. By Monday evening, evacuation levels were reduced to Level 1 (Be Ready), and State Route 503 was reopened. No houses were burned during the fire. Clark Public Utilities requested that residents outside the evacuation zones limit their water use to ensure sufficient supply for firefighting efforts.
