Javier de la Fuente Announces UNAM Control Exam Results for 2026 and Class Start Dates

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) will release the results of its 2026 control exam by the final weekend of August. Javier de la Fuente, the university's general secretary, stated that while results from various locations like Oaxaca, León, and Tijuana are being received in real-time, the institution must wait for all scores to be finalized before performing the necessary weighting and classification for each faculty. Classes for new students are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31. The university held a control exam to address irregularities in its initial online admission process, which included the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence. The exam was conducted in a digital format on tablets without internet access to ensure consistency. In Mexico City, the Palacio de los Deportes hosted 4,200 aspirants in its first shift. Students reported some technical issues with the tablets, including screen scratches and occasional reboots, though the university maintained permanent on-site supervision throughout the evaluation.
