Hunter Biden announced the launch of a new cryptocurrency called $LAPTOP, which satirizes the 2020 laptop scandal and the crypto ventures of President Trump. The coin will debut on the Base blockchain network on September 9. Hunter Biden and his co-founders will retain 30 percent of the total supply of 1 billion coins, which will be unsellable for the first six months. Another 20 percent of the supply will be distributed to people who lost money on the $TRUMP memecoin, as well as to subscribers of Hunter Biden's Substack newsletter and a mailing list managed by Andrew Callaghan. The remaining 30 percent will be burned if specific conditions are met, such as a Democrat winning the 2028 presidential election or the $LAPTOP coin's market cap exceeding that of $TRUMP. The $TRUMP coin, which peaked at a $15 billion market cap, has recently declined in value. President Trump earned $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency deals last year.
