Russian forces launch sustained drone waves against Kyiv, disrupting civilian life and infrastructure

Russian forces have initiated a systematic campaign of drone waves targeting the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, forcing residents into shelters for consecutive days. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that the capital faced at least 23 air-raid alerts in less than 48 hours, causing significant delays in transportation and disrupting daily life. According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, the strategy aims to exhaust both air defenses and the population by using fast-moving jet-powered drones. These drones often exceed the speeds of standard Ukrainian interceptor drones, necessitating the use of more expensive missiles. The strikes have caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, including 14 warehouses, 16 private homes, and three apartment buildings in the Kyiv region. Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi noted that while 90% of Ukraine's modern storage facilities have been destroyed, food supplies remain stable. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian military continues to deliberately target military and paramilitary infrastructure.
