Rosa Icela Rodríguez confirms that President Claudia Sheinbaum will not present a preferential initiative during the upcoming legislative session.

Secretary of Government Rosa Icela Rodríguez confirmed that President Claudia Sheinbaum will not present a preferential initiative for the upcoming legislative session starting September 1st. During a closed-door meeting with Morena senators, Rosa Icela Rodríguez clarified that while no single preferential initiative will be proposed, the administration will present many initiatives to be processed through normal channels. The meeting aimed to focus on unity and commitment among the legislators. Despite the departure of Senator Enrique Inzunza from the Morena bloc, Rosa Icela Rodríguez maintained that the group retains a sufficient majority to approve the administration's reforms. While some critics, such as Ricardo Monreal, expressed concern over the loss of the qualified majority, the administration remains confident in its legislative agenda. The session will feature participation from various cabinet members, including Marcelo Ebrard and Mario Delgado, to ensure a smooth transition of the administration's proposals through the standard legislative process.
