Óscar Mario Beteta died on Wednesday, September 9th, at the age of 70. The journalist, economist, and radio host passed away at the ABC Hospital of Santa Fe due to cancer. Beteta was a prominent figure in Mexican radio journalism, best known for conducting the morning program "En los tiempos de la radio" for 30 years at Grupo Fórmula. The program was one of the most listened-to news broadcasts in the country. Before establishing his career in media, Beteta worked as a stockbroker and held executive positions at institutions such as Banamex, Banca Serfin, and Comermex. He combined his economic formation with journalism to provide rigorous analysis on political and financial topics. Throughout his career, Beteta received numerous accolades, including the National Prize for Journalism three times, the National Tlacaélel Prize for Economic Consulting, and the National Economy Prize. He was also recognized with the José Pagés Llergo award and the Calendario de Oro award for best radio news program conductor.
