The U.S. Food and Drug Administration upgrades the recall of GreenWise Organic frozen berries to the highest risk level.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration upgraded the recall of GreenWise Organic frozen blueberries and mixed berries to a Class I recall, the highest level of risk. The berries, sold at Publix stores, were found to have E. coli contamination, which has caused at least 12 illnesses and four hospitalizations across eight states. Consumers who purchased the GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries with best-by dates up to February 9, 2028, should avoid eating them. The contamination can lead to severe stomach cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently working to identify the source of the contamination. Customers who have already consumed the products and are experiencing symptoms of an E. coli infection should consult their health care provider immediately.
