Vice Admiral Manuel Roberto Farias Laguna requests President Claudia Sheinbaum's intervention to secure evidence in fiscal smuggling case
Vice Admiral Manuel Roberto Farias Laguna sent a new letter to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo requesting her intervention to obtain evidence from the Secretariat of Marine (Semar). He argues that the Navy continues to deny information requested by the General Prosecutor's Office, which has been under reserve since November 2025 due to reasons of "national security." Farias Laguna claims that the provided documents will demonstrate his innocence in the fiscal smuggling case and expose the responsible parties. He stated that the Navy is using him as a scapegoat because the information involves other individuals who currently hold positions in State Secretariats, the Senate, and the Morena party. Farias Laguna also requested that President Sheinbaum instruct the Navy to comply with judicial orders in his favor and in favor of his brother, Fernando "N," who is also involved in the investigation. He maintains that he has been a victim of a corrupting effect caused by a press conference that declared him guilty before his hearing, and he argues that his presumptive innocence has been violated.
