The investigation stems from the 2023 polygraph test administered to Marelbys Meza, a nanny who was subjected to a lie detector test at an intelligence facility to determine if she had hidden information regarding the missing money in the apartment of Laura Sarabia, who served as chief of staff under President Gustavo Petro. While Sarabia's defense team initially sought a symbolic and economic repair for Meza, the negotiation failed due to new evidence. Captain Oscar Leandro Mojica Cord’on testified under oath that Sarabia directly ordered the polygraph test, contradicting Sarabia's previous claims that the test was a pass-through of her security plan. Additionally, Fabiola Perea requested to be recognized as a victim of privacy violations during the investigation. The indictment will likely prevent Sarabia from accessing certain judicial benefits, potentially leading to a proposed prison sentence.
