Mark Wilson reports a surge in business interest for Florida following the launch of the Chamber's 'Free Enterprise' campaign.
Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, reported a significant increase in interest from businesses and individuals seeking to relocate to Florida. This surge follows the launch of the 'Free Enterprise' campaign, which featured a viral advertisement in Times Square naming New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as Florida's 'Economic Developer of the Year.' Wilson noted that inquiries from executives in blue states, including Washington, California, Illinois, and New York, have poured in as companies seek to escape high tax burdens and progressive governance. He highlighted a specific technology firm in Rochester, New York, that is considering moving to Florida, which the company describes as the 'land of opportunity.' Wilson argued that while New York City may offer higher salaries, the high cost of housing and taxes disproportionately strains middle-class workers. In contrast, he pointed out that Florida offers a better purchasing power and a more favorable economic environment for skilled trades. The Florida Chamber of Commerce plans to roll out the campaign nationally, with future billboard locations to be announced.
