Israel Considers Expelling British Officials from Gaza Coordination Center Amid Growing European Settlement Trade Disputes

Israel is considering the removal of British officials from the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat. The decision follows recent British conduct and a series of anti-Israel measures taken by the Dutch government, which recently enacted legislation banning the trade of goods from illegal Israeli settlements. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar noted that Dutch representatives may also be removed due to their government's decision to ban products from the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. While the Netherlands is currently taking the state to court over the ban, the Dutch group Christians for Israel is seeking to make the measure less one-sided. The move comes as European nations grapple with the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion that Israeli settlements are unlawful. While Spain and Ireland have implemented bans, other nations like Germany and Austria remain opposed to a broad EU-wide ban. Israel continues to defend its settlement expansion, with the UK currently considering a similar trade ban.
