Jim Farley Announces Ford Motor Company's $1 Billion Investment in Kentucky Paint Shop

Jim Farley, the president and CEO of Ford Motor Company, announced a $1 billion investment to build a new state-of-the-art paint shop at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The facility is Ford's largest and most profitable U.S. manufacturing plant, producing vehicles such as the F-Series Super Duty trucks, the Ford Expedition, and the Lincoln Navigator. A vehicle rolls off the assembly line every 45 seconds at this location. Construction on the new paint shop is expected to begin by the end of 2026. The investment is part of a broader expansion in Kentucky, following a $2 billion plan to modernize the Louisville Assembly Plant and a $4 billion investment in Kentucky facilities over recent years. Ford currently employs more than 11,500 people across the state of Kentucky. Farley stated that these investments demonstrate the company's confidence in the Kentucky workforce and a commitment to American manufacturing. The announcement follows a period of criticism from the administration regarding Ford's ties to Chinese companies, which the administration expressed concern about regarding manufacturing integrity.
