Ford Racing reveals first images of new LMDh prototype during track testing at Paul Ricard

Ford Racing has officially revealed the first images of its new LMDh prototype, which is scheduled to debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship starting in 2027. The vehicle, which features a 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 engine and an ORECA chassis, began its initial shakedown and track testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. The testing program commenced on August 5, following successful simulator and dyno work. Drivers Matt Campbell and Logan Sargeant led the initial track sessions, with Tom Blomqvist and Mike Rockenfeller also scheduled to drive the car in the coming days. The prototype is designed to help Ford secure a fifth overall win at Le Mans and a World Hypercar Manufacturers’ title. The car features a unique aerodynamic design, including a low nose and a contoured splitter. While other manufacturers use the ORECA platform, Ford's design incorporates specific stylistic nods to the legendary GT40 and the Porsche 963. Ford Racing confirmed that all control systems are now fully functional for the upcoming European test program.
