Rachel Campos-Duffy Admits She May Have Been Naive Regarding President Trump's Motivations in Venezuela

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy admitted she may have been too naive regarding the primary purpose of removing the communist dictator Nicolas Maduro from power. During a discussion on Fox & Friends Weekend, Campos-Duffy noted that she previously believed the goal was to liberate the Venezuelan people from their oppressors to choose their own government. She spoke about the recent deal secured by the administration with Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez, who was installed as interim president after U.S. forces captured Maduro in January. The administration announced that the deal provides the U.S. with majority control over 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. Campos-Duffy stated that while the deal is good for America, the Venezuelan people may not yet benefit from it because they do not trust Rodríguez, who she described as part of the old regime. She noted that until free elections are held, there will be questions regarding whether the interests of the Venezuelan people are at hand. She predicted that if an election were held today, Maria Corina Machado would win.
