President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Secures Additional French Crotale Air Defense Systems and Interceptor Missiles from European Allies
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine has received additional French Crotale air defense systems and missiles to bolster its defense against Russian drones and cruise missiles. These systems are particularly effective at low altitudes, providing a critical last line of defense where long-range systems like Patriot are less effective. Simultaneously, the administration announced that France would deliver new interceptor missiles to Kyiv following a major Russian strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih. During a visit to Kyiv, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham joined other European leaders to mark Ukraine's Independence Day. During this visit, the administration announced that the UK government will allow the and French defense company MBDA to declassify information about UK-made components of the Storm Shadow/Scalp missiles to help Ukraine build its own version. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also highlighted a significant decrease in interceptor missiles received since 2023, requesting a package of at least 300 for the upcoming winter. Ukraine continues to target Russian logistics and energy infrastructure to hamper the Russian economy.
