Mayor Linda Goodman issues a mandatory evacuation order for the Village of Buckeye Lake due to rising river levels.

Mayor Linda Goodman issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Village of Buckeye Lake starting Thursday, Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. The order remains in effect for 24 hours unless lifted by the mayor. The evacuation affects residents living west of the State Route 79 and State Route 360 intersection. This action was taken because the South Fork Licking River is in a major flood stage. Residents are advised to follow news channels and the Licking County Office of Emergency Management Facebook Page for updates. Meanwhile, in Columbus, city crews are activating the floodwall and installing floodgates to protect the area from heavy rain. This has resulted in several road closures, including Greenlawn Avenue, Harmon Avenue, and the ramps from Interstate 71 to Greenlawn Avenue. Additionally, the Division of Police has closed I-71 between I-070 and I-270 due to high water on the roadway.
