A teenage burglary suspect was fatally shot by a resident during a home invasion in Fremont.

Fremont police reported that a teenage burglary suspect was fatally shot during a home invasion on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on San Pedro Drive, where two armed teenagers allegedly forced their way into an apartment and assaulted the occupants. During the struggle, one of the residents managed to wrestle a firearm from one of the suspects and fired it, fatally wounding the teenager. Officers arrived to find the suspect with a gunshot wound and provided medical assistance before he was transported to a local trauma center, where he died of his injuries. The second teenage suspect fled the scene but was later located and booked at the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of residential burglary and felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Two residents inside the apartment sustained non-life-threatening injuries. This homicide marks the third in Fremont for 2026. The investigation remains active, and police are urging anyone with with information to contact the Fremont Police Investigations Unit.
