The appointment of Inti Asprilla as the second notary of Soacha has been suspended pending a legal review.

The appointment of Inti Asprilla as the second notary of Soacha has been suspended. The Ministry of Justice requested the Government of Cundinamarca to halt the proceedings for his possession of the position. Inti Asprilla was designated as a temporary notary by former President Gustavo Petro one day before he left office. The designation was made possible because the titular notary, Ricardo Correa Cubillos, was forced to withdraw. In the absence of valid lists of eligible candidates, the government was able to assign the position to Asprilla. Governor Jorge Emilio Rey stated that the administration received the official request from the Ministry of Justice on August 18. The Ministry is seeking to establish whether the legal requirements were met for the interim designation and to verify alleged irregularities in the administrative procedure that led to the nomination. The Government of Cundinamarca will maintain the suspension until the Ministry and judicial authorities conclude their verifications and define the legal status of the appointment. Until a final decision is reached, Inti Asprilla has not formally assumed the role of notary second of Soacha.
